Tombolo Island is a small island on Lake Superior just north of Grand Marais, Minnesota. A Tombolo is a narrow sand or sediment deposit between the mainland and an island. At times the island is accessible, connected by the sand spit or tombolo, while at other times open water prevents access to the island.
