Pennsylvania has one of the largest rural populations in the United States with nearly one-third of the state still being cultivated. Pennsylvania farmers contribute and rank highest in the production of edible mushrooms, apples, dairy, Christmas trees, grapes and winemaking, among other crops. "The Farm", located in Butler County in western Pennsylvania north of Pittsburgh, is representative of the agricultural industry of the region with over 1000 farms located in Butler County.
