Cathedral

2019, oil on canvas, 11" x 14" (original not for sale)

A batholith is a large mass of intrusive plutonic rock formed from cooled magma deep in the Earth's crust exposed to the surface by the process of erosion and continental uplift. Batholiths are almost always made of granite, quartz monzonite or dorite and can be found around the world. In North America there are many examples including southeastern Alaska, western Canada, and the Sierra Nevada to Wyoming.
